This header is available in 1 ¾” tube size with 3” collectors, or a 1 7/8” or 2” tube size with 3 ½” collectors. All of our headers are hand made, so we can build any combination you need, including step design, with our slip on type race collectors or welded on pro tour collectors. We can also build them for aftermarket tall deck blocks and aftermarket cylinder heads.
All the tubes are inside the frame, with excellent ground clearance and spark plug access. The header is designed for aftermarket oil pans with kick out sides. The available room from a stock oil pan is 4 ½” on the passenger side and 4” on the driver side. This provides easy access to the starter and oil filter. You can use a stock starter or aftermarket starter.
The header is designed for side motor mounts using either Detroit Speeds or Chris Alston’s LS motor mount adapters and also fits motor plates.
The steering needs to be installed per the chassis builders instructions. The original steering column had a rag joint approximately 5 ½” from the firewall, if you install your upper “U” joint at that position to make the turn down to the rack & pinion the steering column will easily clear the header.
This header comes with oxygen sensor bungs installed in the collectors. If you request a “V” band connection for your exhaust reducers then we would install the oxygen sensor bungs in the reducer which can be rotated to any position.
This header will not fit a factory air conditioning box or column shifter linkage, but it will fit a power brake booster.
Special note for LS7 engines: the LS7 stock oil pans come with dry sump oil lines on the passenger side. These oil lines will interfere with our header and need to be redirected. Newman Car Creations makes a very nice CNC right angle oil block for this problem, it takes up very little space and keeps the oil lines away from the header. This is the best I’ve seen. Some other adapters come out too far from the pan and the oil lines end up close to the header. Contact: Newman Car Creations, Paul Newman, 805-226-9201.
Driver side, remove the center section of the steering column and install from the bottom, with spark plugs in, oil filter in and the engine in place.
Passenger side, install from the bottom, with starter in, spark plugs in and the engine in place. It’s too easy. Refer to our header installation tip’s page for additional information.
